First Lego League cOmpetition
Students are using Lego Mindstorms to design, build and program robots. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are being utilized to program the robots to perform the different missions throughout an obstacle course, preparing for the First Lego League Competition in November.
Sixth grade students competed in a First Lego League competition in Camdenton. They won the Project Presentation Award!
The competition consisted of there parts: Robot Game, Project, and Core Values. The students designed, built and programmed a robot to complete as many of the fourteen missions in 2 1/2 minutes during the Robot Game. For the Project, they researched the question, "How could we improve the way teachers learn to better meet the needs of gifted students?" They analyzed their research and came up with S.M.A.R.T. Teacher Software as a solution. You can learn more about their project by visiting the website they created, SMART Teacher Toolbox. They presented the information by performing a parody to the judges at the competition. Be sure to check out their performance. Finally, students were asked to work together to solve a problem demonstrating the First Lego League Core Values.
