ALL 5th and 6th grade students, please complete the survey below. Thank you! To wrap up our CSI unit, we visited the Greene County 911 Center and Springfield Police Department. We learned about 911 calls, collecting evidence and much more. It was a great time! It's time to choose our units for next year and tell me what you thought of the units we did this year. I would like to get your feedback so that I can improve them for future use.
If you will be in 7th grade next year, please complete only the survey rating the units we did this year. Go here to take the survey. A Sonnet by Lucas ALERT is the best class, students would say My teacher, Ms. Sorrell is so awesome I am challenged and learn throughout the day In ALERT we should have a pet opossum ALERT will put a smile on your face Problem solving is what we do the best Thinking critically at a steady pace Mastering new skills puts us to the test In ALERT we have lots and lots of fun Gaining new knowledge is our desire With engaging units, we learn a ton ALERT will continue to inspire I want to be in ALERT forever We really do have the best class ever We enjoy pushing ourselves to the limit in everything we do, even if it seems impossible; like building gumball machines with mazes that sort out different sizes of gumballs. We also must have patience when creating robots that write, talk and play music. Our planning skills have also been sharpened while we worked together to write, produce and direct movies with green screens. To other kids, unlocking the secret of the Rubik’s Cube would seem about as possible as rolling a giant boulder up a mountain, but to us, it’s just a normal ALERT day. -Laiken
We are having so much fun on Mondays in ALERT! In our class, we are spending our day in the forensic lab analyzing the evidence we collected from a "crime scene" to solve a CSI crime. We are also using tools and gadgets to produce a clay animation on historical fiction. ALERT class is so much fun, but it also takes work and perseverance. -Aaron
The 5th grade Wednesday ALERT class is doing a Rube Goldberg unit. One group is making a machine that is going to pop a balloon, and another is going to make one to pour water into a glass to make lemonade. We are going to combine them when we are done to make one huge machine! We are learning about science and energy while building AWESOME machines! (Because WE are AWESOME!) - Jenelle
